Professor Snake

Made as a Unity Developer Intern at ZGen Studio in December 2024 using Unity and C#.

  • Sole programmer for the game; delivered for deployment in 2 weeks.
  • Programmed the slithering snake movement, and mechanisms to collect and shed letters.
  • Also contributed to the game's look and feel using art and animations.

Highlights

  • A fresh take on the all-time-favourite Snake game, where players must collect letters in the right order to end up with the target word.

  • The snake grows with each letter it eats, but also sheds a letter every 10 seconds.
  • Thus, letters must be collected strategically to minimise shedding and get a high score.

  • As in the classic game, the snake cannot crash into itself or the environment, or it's game over.

Description

Professor Snake is a casual game which combines the old-but-gold Snake with strategy and word elements. Players control a snake that consumes letters to grow. Eating the correct letter to make the target word earns points, but here's the catch: the snake also sheds a letter every 10 seconds. So along with eating letters in the correct order, players must also plan for the shedding cycle so that the order of their collected letters is not disrupted.
